JOB SUMMARY
Works to respond to human resource (HR) issues and inquiries on matters such as employment law and compliance, providing conflict resolution services and communicating HR programs and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides advice and guidance on the interpretation of HR policies and procedures as they relate to individuals and the company objectives.
Prepares reports and conducts basic analysis for review by HR management.
Interviews employees to gather information relating to general factors that affect worker morale, motivation and efficiency.
Responds to unemployment claim inquiries and background check adjudication requests.
Communicates company and government rules, regulations and procedures and the need for compliance to management and employees.
Advises management on federal and state employment law compliance.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA / BS) from 4-year college or university and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of related experience.
CERTIFICATES and / or LICENSES
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation preferred.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret various types of business documents including complex employment contracts and other legal documents.
Ability to effectively respond to inquiries or from clients, co-workers, supervisor and / or management.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Ability to perform basic mathematical functions including percentages, discounts and commissions.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to apply broad application of standards, practices and theories in solving problems.
OTHER SKILLS and / or ABILITIES
Strong Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills required. Knowledge of PeopleSoft.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines.
Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
