Part-time, non-tenure track, for placement in Spring, Summer and/or Fall lecturer pool, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements for East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and/or North Hawaii (Honokaa) campuses.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, conduct lecture and as appropriate, laboratory courses in the discipline.
  • May include instructional assignment involving distance education.
  • Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
  • Possible evening, weekend and off-campus assignments.
  • Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes.
  • Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.

  • Minimum Qualifications:

  • (a) Master’s in Mathematics;
  • OR (b) Master’s in Math Education with 18 credits of advanced coursework in math of which 9 credits are at the graduate level;
  • OR (c) Master’s of Art in Teaching Math with 18 credits of advanced coursework in math, at least 9 of which are at the graduate level;
  • OR (d) Master’s in STEM- related field (applied math, engineering, physical science, and biological science) with 18 credits of advanced coursework in math.
  • If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered.

  • “Advanced” coursework is defined as 300-400 level courses offered in a bachelor’s program. “Graduate level” coursework is defined as post baccalaureate courses at the level specified by the institution where the credits were earned.

  • Willingness to work with Running Start and Early College programs and pass required additional screening as necessary.
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience promoting equity and a diverse workforce/academic environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment and/or experience supporting the success of students.
