Part-time, non-tenure track, for placement in Spring, Summer and/or Fall lecturer pool, assignments as needed, contingent on availability of funds and actual staffing requirements for East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and/or North Hawaii (Honokaa) campuses.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, conduct lecture and as appropriate, laboratory courses in the discipline.

May include instructional assignment involving distance education.

Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.

Possible evening, weekend and off-campus assignments.

Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness.

Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes.

Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.

Minimum Qualifications:

(a) Master’s in Mathematics;

OR (b) Master’s in Math Education with 18 credits of advanced coursework in math of which 9 credits are at the graduate level;

OR (c) Master’s of Art in Teaching Math with 18 credits of advanced coursework in math, at least 9 of which are at the graduate level;

OR (d) Master’s in STEM- related field (applied math, engineering, physical science, and biological science) with 18 credits of advanced coursework in math.

If qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting minimum qualifications may be considered.

“Advanced” coursework is defined as 300-400 level courses offered in a bachelor’s program. “Graduate level” coursework is defined as post baccalaureate courses at the level specified by the institution where the credits were earned.


Desirable Qualifications:

Willingness to work with Running Start and Early College programs and pass required additional screening as necessary.

Demonstrated commitment and/or experience promoting equity and a diverse workforce/academic environment.

Demonstrated commitment and/or experience supporting the success of students.
