Duties and Responsibilities



  • Under faculty supervision, teach and / or assist the HWST 396 : Native Hawaiian Rights and Practices, HWST 653 / LAW 503 : Historic Preservation Law, HWST 458 / SUST 456 : Natural Resource Issues & Ethics in Hawaii, HWST 652 : Kanawai Lawai'a, HWST 490 : Senior Seminar in Hawaiian Studies, and HWST 651 Aina Waiwai courses.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Arts in Hawaiian Studies or field of study closely allied to Hawaiian culture, history, language and / or arts.

  • Admitted full-time at the University of Hawai’i in a graduate degree program at UH Manoa at the time of hire.

  • Experience in completing graduate courses in Hawaiian Studies


Desirable Qualifications



  • Research experience in Hawaiian language sources and Native Hawaiian rights;


  • Grade point average above 3.5;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
