Job Summary

Essential Responsibilities
Observation, Coaching and Training
- Works collaboratively with the campus instructional leadership team to strengthen the alignment, delivery and quality of the K-12 math curriculum. Regularly observes, demonstrates and shares expertise with teachers, administrators and evaluators to serve as a faculty-based professional development coach and/or trainer. Responsible for assisting in the improvement of math instruction through analysis of instructional teaching methods, identification and management of professional development opportunities and follow-up and coaching of strategies related to campus, division and individual professional development goals.
- Train, supervise, and mentor teachers, administrators, instructional evaluators specific to math curriculum and instruction.
- Act as an instructional coach, who helps both new and veteran teachers develop stronger lesson plans, improve their instruction or classroom-management techniques, or acquire new professional skills.
- Act as a facilitator and coordinator of a K-12 math professional learning community working together to improve their teaching skills.
- Lead efforts to modify, improve and align school-wide math curriculum and accelerated K-12 pathways for students.
- Participate with campus leadership in understanding, analyzing, and interpreting student-achievement data, as well as using those findings to improve instructional efficacy in math throughout the school.
- May lead action-research projects or engage in additional study and research projects to grow professionally and enhance their professional contributions to the school.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- Master s Degree.
- Minimum 7 years of related work experience in an educational, teaching profession, or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of: Basic principles, theories, and practices of education, including curriculum program planning and development;
- Working knowledge of standards-based K-12 education, and/or experience as a mentor teacher/coach/cooperating teacher;
- Supervision of personnel (observations, conferencing, data and feedback, and documentation); planning for school or program improvement.
- Ability to design, monitor, and evaluate plans, programs, and procedures;
- Ability to be flexible in work hours and travel address quality control issues around educational assessment and program evaluation
- Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with others; communicate clearly, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to write technical and professional reports for decision-making in the educational field;
- Ability to analyze programs; and facilitate, present and explain program procedures and data to staff and families.
- Excellent working knowledge of technology and proficiency in the use of spreadsheet, word processing, data management, and presentation applications.
- Excellent organization and time management skills to manage competing priorities. Strong project management skills and proven experience executing complex projects
- Teaching license or certification; such as State Teachers license, National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), Highly
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and current instructional strategies appropriate for K-12 math.
- Previous experience working with teachers.
- Recent teaching and coaching experience in primary area of responsibility.
- Sensitivity to and appreciation of Hawaiian cultural values.
- Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks and grasp light/fine manipulation.
- Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
- Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach/work about shoulder, grasp forcefully.
- Work is conducted in office and classroom environments and may also require work to be conducted in non- standard workplaces.
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. but evening and weekend hours may be required to meet goals and objectives.
