Position: IT Cloud Network Engineer
SUMMARY
IT Cloud Network Engineer is an advanced level technical position designed to support the business development and operations side of IT Department that pertain to cloud-based solutions and infrastructure.
PURPOSE
This position is designed to offer technical oversight of cloud infrastructure and platforms; the role connects Infrastructure and Software Engineering teams together, to help with design, implementation, and enhancements to application environments in the cloud.
MAIN JOB TASKS
Design, plan, and implement required cloud solutions
Identify appropriate cloud providers
Ensure the cloud network is responsive to user demands
Scale cloud services to serve growing business needs
Troubleshooting issues which arise
Collaborating with process owners and/or stakeholders to determine growth plans
Monitoring usage of cloud network
Implementing effective security strategies on cloud networks
Ensuring compliance with relevant HIPAA regulations and guidelines
Evaluation of new or existing application environments in Azure or AWS with the goal of ensuring the correct cloud services are being used for maximum performance, security, and high availability
Assist Software Engineering and product teams to implement recommended or requested cloud services and resources
Work with Software Engineering and product teams to educate on using cloud services. This includes implementation, usage, security, and logging/monitoring/alerting. Ensures the health of the service meets defined service level expectations
Identify automation opportunities including self-healing
KPI, reporting, and data analysis of cloud environment performance
Mentoring and educating others on operating efficiently in the cloud
Review and provide recommendations on the implementation of Cloud Network Operations Documentation
Review and provide recommendations on the implementation of cloud network incidence response plans
Be cognizant of the company’s financial spending on cloud usage; recommend cost effective conscious solutions
Review and confirm cloud network health and adequate performance on a routine basis
Review and confirm cloud network security workflows and identify false positives, false negatives
Willing and able to act as the afterhours cloud network resource for the firm- Carry out vulnerability and penetration testing for the cloud network on schedule
Provide technical analysis after penetration tests and vulnerability scans to IT Infrastructure supervisor
Communicate the status of technical projects and unresolved support cases to IT Infrastructure supervisor
Communicate status of any trouble during scheduled or unscheduled maintenance to IT Infrastructure supervisor
DESIRED QUALITICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (CS) OR more than 3 years of Cloud Administration/Support experience in medium to large sized firms- Certifications and organizational specific experience may be considered to enhance or replace educational requirements.
Strive to achieve relevant cloud engineering certifications
Advanced technical speaking and technical writing abilities in the field of Computer Science
Up to date knowledge of HIPAA and SOX compliance rules
US Citizen or Permanent Resident- Valid permit of employment in the US can be used in place of citizenship or permanent residence
Healthcare Industry experience is desirable but not a requirement
This resource typically has more than 4 years of professional experience in large enterprises with more than a minimum of 500 users
KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
Must have ability and willingness to thrive under pressure of a fast-paced and mature IT Department
Must have experience implementing and using various cloud services
Systems administration expertise (Windows, Linux)- Scripting technologies (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
Troubleshooting cloud infrastructure function and performance
Implementing system changes
Enterprise Monitoring Tools for infrastructure and applications
Data Networks – routing, firewalls, load balancers, DNS
Cloud Architectures
Automation in a cloud environment
Risk, Security, and Audit compliance
Security – Access Management, Key Management
Compose error free communications with above well above average English communication skills
Ability to understand new features and learn how they work. Prepare documentation in crisp, easy-to-follow language
Maintain real-time communication of projects and maintenance tasks with peers and management
Possess advanced logical reasoning and technical research capability to quickly learn unfamiliar skills
Willing to assist with scheduled and unscheduled tasks round the clock when an emergency is declared
