Position Summary
Seattle Colleges is looking for innovative and dedicated faculty members, who have a demonstrated commitment to working within a college community that is diverse and serves students from a broad spectrum of socioeconomic and academic backgrounds. Faculty will teach part-time in a wide range of early childhood and family studies courses. Successful applicants will have the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, staff and others in a campus climate that promotes cultural diversity and multicultural understanding in an urban environment.
The Early Childhood & Family Studies program offers a range of study opportunities for students wanting to work with children and families. We strive to prepare students who are interested in working with children during the early childhood years (pre-natal to 8 years) in a variety of settings: in social/human service areas (child welfare, social/family services, parent education, family advocacy, warp-around service areas, etc.), as early learning teachers in ECE classrooms and child care settings, and before/after school programs.
Specific teaching assignments will be dependent on the instructor's background and scheduling. Successful applicants may be invited to teach at North Seattle, South Seattle, or Seattle Central College.
Candidates should be willing to teach in a variety of formats such as in-class, hybrid, online and varied class times including days, evenings, and weekends according to program needs.
This position is governed by a collective bargaining agreement with representation by AFT-Seattle.
