Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee s first FULL month s salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
To assist and where necessary deputise for the Head Teacher in the conduct of the affairs of the school to the benefit of the pupils, staff and the community it serves through pursuing objectives and implementing policies set by ACC in accordance with current legislation and within the agreements of the SNCT.
Deputy Head Teacher Mile End School available from 21st August 2023

Mile End School is a busy and exciting place to work and learn with an all year-round Early Learning Centre provision with 80 places, 17 mainstream primary classes and 8 additional support needs classes for pupils with multiple and/or complex learning need, who are all supported by a staff team of 100 people who work really hard to meet the needs of all our pupils.

The school has a leadership team of one Head Teacher and three Deputy Head Teachers as well as a Principle Teacher - Additional Support Needs, Principle Teacher - Support for Learning and Principle Teacher - Health and Wellbeing.
The DHT position would initially have responsibility for quality assurance, leadership and mentoring the Nursery to P3 mainstream department as well as whole school leadership responsibilities for QI 1.2 Leadership of Learning and QI 2.1 Safeguarding and Child Protection.

The position requires someone with significant leadership experience as they will be leading a department with over 25 members of staff. A secure knowledge and understand of play pedagogy as well as experience of pre-school ELC quality assurance systems and processes are essential.
