Guest Relations SupervisorScience Museum Oklahoma – Application Deadline: Open until filled

The Guest Relations Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the museum’s guest relations team. This individual will work with the Guest Relations Manager and Director to hire, train and coach a diverse, knowledgeable and motivated team dedicated to providing excellent customer service while meeting the museum’s operating objectives. This position requires the individual to be self-motivated, exercise good judgment and communicate effectively with staff and guests.

Position Information

  • Full time position
  • $14 to $15 Hourly pay range
  • Eligible for our generous leave, benefits and retirement package

Minimum Requirements

  • One (1) or more years of experience with cash handling or operation of a cash register.
  • One (1) or more years of supervisory experience in a hospitality or retail environment.
  • Open availability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience at cultural institutions, attractions, performance venues front-of-house operations.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with education or experience above the listed qualifications.

Essential Job Functions

  • The Guest Relations Supervisor will lead the team, deliver outstanding service, and efficiently administer the ticket and membership sales process.
  • Proactively maintain an expert-level knowledge base of all SMO programs, shows, memberships and auxiliary services.
  • Actively supervise staff and staffing levels to meet customer service and budgetary benchmarks.
  • Train and coach staff in coordination with the Guest Relations Manager.
  • Identify and delegate appropriate responsibilities to staff to facilitate smooth flow of operations.
  • Handle customer service issues as necessary. This position is constantly monitoring staff and guests to proactively address any potential issues which could lead to a negative guest experience.
  • Monitor staff for adherence to established opening, closing and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with cash controls and perform basic maintenance of point of sale systems.
  • Crosstrain in the Reservations department and remain knowledgeable in reservations procedures.
  • Assist with coordination of SMO events.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism and appearance.
  • Assume other responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
