General Summary



The Executive Director of Transmission Operations is responsible for approximately 366 employees, including 3 statewide managers as well as capital and O&M budgets. The position also includes Gas System Integrity, Gas Compression and Gas Storage the operations and maintenance workforce for measurement and regulation, pipeline integrity, gas compression, gas storage and transmission pipeline. The measurement and regulation group include the maintenance of 125 city gatesand placing pipeline and storage lines in and out of service. The gas transmission pipeline system involves the oversight of the operations, maintenance, and construction activities on the 2400 miles of pipeline operating at greater than 20% SMYS, as well as associated valving, odorization, etc. The pipeline integrity responsibility involves the operation of pig runs (cleaning, gauge, caliper, MFL, other smart devices), as well as associated remediation projects. The gas compression group involves the operations, maintenance, and enhancements for 7 compression stations.



The location for this position will be Southern Central MI - Jackson, Livingston, Genesee, Ingham County etc.



Duties and Responsibilities




  • Direct operations and maintenance activities for corrosion control, gas transmission measurement & regulation, gas transmission pipeline, gas compression and pipeline integrity, including safety, goals, performance, adherence to standards, employee development and productivity.

  • Oversee response to emergencies, on call and incident command for abnormal events.

  • Lead the collaboration of strategy, tactics and execution of work plan, budget and forecast for gas system integrity and enhancement. Support Gas Operations budget process.

  • Coordinate activities to reach objectives among cross functional groups including gas distribution, gas service, engineering, scheduling and planning, fleet, facilities, environmental, etc.

  • Sponsorship of key company initiatives. Interactions with key customers, municipalities/government agencies, CAMs, and project managers on critical projects and/or as needed.



 



Qualifications




  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Management.

  • 10 or more years of applicable experience.



The following experience/skills may set you apart from others




  • Master's Degree in Business Management or Engineering.

  • Functional knowledge of the gas system design, measurement and regulation, gas storage and gas system maintenance activities and practices.

  • Natural gas fundamentals, gas operations standards and procedures, contract administration, safety leadership, performance management, union relations, change management, problem solving, leadership abilities, critical thinking skills, strategic focus, business acumen.
