Instruct children in activities designed to promote academic, social-emotional, and physical growth while following NJ Best Practice for after school programs.

  • Follow all policies and procedures of New Community.
  • Plan individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social-emotional and academic areas.
  • Encourage individual work time to promote independence and group work to promote socialization.
  • Plan and implement education and skills workshops for parents of students participating in the program.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment.
  • Assure classroom equipment, furniture, materials, and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date student records
  • Coordinate field trips

Required Experience:
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work and interact with departments throughout the organization
  • Adheres to policies and procedures of New Community Corporation and Affiliates
  • Preserves the confidentiality of files and other information
  • Results driven, self- starter with high attention to detail and sense of urgency. Must also be highly customer- oriented.
  • Demonstrates respect, cooperation, consideration and tact in dealing with peers, supervisors and others
  • The employee will cooperate with the agency, licensee and the applicable State department or division licensing unit with any legally mandated inspections or investigationsOutstanding Organizational/Administrative experience, ability to prioritize; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multi-task.
  • At least three years experience working with elementary or middle school students in a school-based or community-based setting; at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
