KION Mobile Automation is looking for a Simulation Engineer. The preferred location is in our Holland, MI office. The successful candidate will have 1-2 years' experience developing simulation models and working on simulation projects; have a broad knowledge of manufacturing and material handling systems; will understand automated material handling systems, warehouse control systems, mechanical controls systems and distribution center operations; and have a formal academic training in Simulation Modeling and Analysis. Knowledge of AutoMod, FlexSim or AnyLogic or Plant Simulation is desirable, experience with other simulation software is necessary.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assists and supports the Simulation Project Leads and team in pre-sale and post-sale simulation supporting efforts
  • Assists and support the simulation development of computer-based models of AGV and Material Handling sub-systems
  • Works with others on project timelines and resources to successfully implement projects
  • Performs data collection, data analysis, and preparation of model specifications
  • Assists in developing and updating computer-based models of AGV and material handling sub-systems
  • Setups and administers simulation scenarios and experiment statistical runs
  • Performs, presents, and interprets simulation results statistical analysis to KMA Team
  • Assists in developing customer presentations
  • Completes tasks on time and within budget
  • Clearly communicates complex principles, ideas, and concepts
  • Uses sound business judgment and discretion when working with customers' information.
  • Skillfully uses verbal communication to build customer confidence and understanding. Assists in developing better overall processes for the KMA team, documentations, and methodology of simulation deliverables
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrates and applies some knowledges of Discrete simulation model development and process
  • Demonstrates and applies some knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of assignments
  • Successfully applies some knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization
  • Demonstrates some knowledge of organization's business practices and issues, and contributes to problem resolution of those issues
  • Very good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and 3D Design preferred
  • Advance understanding of mechanical design principles
  • Very good understanding on data and statistical analysis
  • Preferred Background in C/C++ , Python or VBA, Data analysis
Basic Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering or related equivalent is required. Master's degree is preferred
  • Typically 1-2 years of experience and knowledge in simulation model development and process
  • Experience with AutoMod, FlexSim, AnyLogic or Plant Simulation strongly preferred
  • Experience with discrete event simulation software required
