Reporting to the Director of Application and Support or designee, the Informatics Analyst, reports to Information Systems representing the clinical support staff or non-clinical support staff needs in advancing systems and technology to all support departments. Serves as a member of the IS department providing subject matter expertise to analysts by identifying or recommending revision of revenue cycle or ancillary systems, processes, and workflow to ensure achievement of positive patient and financial outcomes. The Informatics Analyst will utilize knowledge, skills and experience in revenue cycle or ancillary practice and processes to determine best practice workflows in use of the applications across the enterprise. The Informatics Analyst provides education and training to staff and promotes system utilization. The Informatics Analyst develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the revenue cycle, ancillary and/or administrative departments to ensure optimal utilization of health system’s application. This position works under general supervision with the ability to work various shifts during system go-lives, upgrades, and on-call
Qualifications
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct current needs assessment, builds specifications, implementation, testing and support for clinical information systems. Have knowledge to run reports from systems to asses compliance or determine areas that may require additional end user training.
- Facilitate design of workflow in conjunction with the end users (revenue cycle, ancillary and/or administrative staff) to gain efficiencies, quality initiatives, and improves patient care or financial outcomes through interaction with information systems.
- Maps current and future state workflows.
- Reviews and approves training curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with Systems Analysts and Project Managers to translate end user needs into workflows that improve efficiencies, solve complex workflow issues, incorporate quality initiatives and positive financial outcomes.
- Actively participates in team daily management and process improvement activities.
- Actively manages informatics needs: proactively identifying improvement opportunities for information technology requirements of the areas served.
- Collaboratively perform unit, functional and integrated testing of the software to ensure that the design objectives are met, including the development and validation of testing scripts.
- Develop high degree of understanding of departments’ business processes.
- Occasionally conduct scheduled and ad hoc trainings for use of systems using the curriculum developed and provided by Information Systems

Education:
- College degree required or equivalent work experience required
Licensure/Certifications:
- Revenue Cycle Candidates CRCR certification required
- Health Informatics Certificate preferred
Experience:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge and training on major vendor clinical information system. Effective written, interpersonal, oral and presentation skills with all levels of staff from clinicians to support staff. Strong initiative; analytical problem solving effective organization, communication, and planning skills. Ability to gasp technical concepts and strong attention to detail.
- Level I – Up to three years’ informatics experience with at least two years’ of related work experience
- Level II – Four or more years’ informatics experience with at least two years’ of related work experience
- Level III - Five or more years’ informatics experience with at least five years’ experience with Catholic Medical Center specific systems.
