The Senior Medical Director Manager works closely with Chief Medical Officer to achieve Accuity's mission and goals. Medical Management team supervises and leads Medical Directors and manages the day-to-day operations for the medical team. They work closely with leadership to develop and implement strategic plans and company policies to drive organizational success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage and advance Accuity business strategic medical objectives and short and long-term goals
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the medical team
- Maintain positive relations with other team members and leadership
- Oversee Medical Directors' operations and performance
- Participate in interviewing and hiring Medical Directors
- Assist in training new Medical Directors
- Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations of assigned Medical Directors in addition to monthly touch bases where metrics are trended, overall performance and goals are discussed, and mentoring is provided
- Provide education for Medical Directors in addition to inter-departmental team members
- Handle workflow issues for team by answering clinical and EMR/Accuity tool navigation questions, resolving interdepartmental conflicts, and providing a second opinion when needed
- Review disagreements and errors at assigned facilities
- Monitor assigned Medical Directors' productivity and quality
- Approve PTO & Scheduling requests
- Assist in building and updating the internal physician training program
- Enforce disciplinary actions to their assigned Medical Directors when necessary
- Maintain individual productivity while managing their assigned Medical Directors
- Review, approve, and provide feedback to queries and coding changes submitted from new Medical Directors during the 30-90-days query monitoring process
- Identify growth opportunities that match the Medical Director goals or interests assuming performance is satisfactory
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited medical school
- Preferred completion of an ACGME accredited US residency program
Experience:
- Minimum total of 5 years of clinical experience including residency
