STAFF COUNSELOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Staff Counselor (Part-Time)

REPORTS TO: Clinical Director COMMISSION: 60% Counselor, 40% Center; Guaranteed Minimum

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Staff counselors provide outpatient individual, group, couples, and family psychotherapy services, as well as perform as a clinical team member, participate in staff meetings and supervision, and perform necessary administrative tasks. Staff counselors set their own schedule and have flexibility in accepting clients.

Staff counselors will create a safe, supportive, inclusive, and encouraging environment to help clients become their best selves; will support and encourage fellow staff counselors as they walk with clients on their healing journeys; and will strive to maintain a healthy work-life balance in their own life.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

3. Assist with marketing and promoting the Center’s services

27-47 ESTIMATED HOURS/MONTH:
* 20-40 hours -- Provide an estimated 20-40 Hours of Clinical Service (8-10 active clients)
* 3 hours -- Document Counseling Sessions, Assessments, and Treatment Plans in Electronic Medical Records Software; Complete Letters and Forms Upon, Client Request; Discharge Clients
* 1 hour -- Make Initial Appointments and Follow-up with Clients
* 2 hours -- Attend Two Clinical Meetings Per Month, at least 10 per year
* 1 hour -- Meet with Clinical Director for Clinical Supervision monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly, as appropriate

Professional Services, Including Documentation and Administration

  • Provide an estimated 20-40 billable service hours per month
  • Make initial appointments and follow-up with clients
  • Provide outpatient mental health services to promote client health and well-being
  • Develop individualized treatment plans to address client concerns
  • Recognize and incorporate the client’s spirituality into treatment plans, upon request
  • Maintain accurate electronic clinical records to document “medical necessity” in keeping with Center policies and procedures, within 7 days of the date of service
  • Assist administrative staff to remind clients about intake and payments, upon request
  • Represent the highest professional and ethical standards and practices
  • Collaborate with referring professionals and external care providers, as needed
  • Maintain professional licensure in the State of Hawaii

Clinical Staff Participation

  • Attend and actively participate in clinical staff meetings, at least 10 per year
  • Meet with the Clinical Director to discuss caseload and work-life balance, monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly, as appropriate
  • Collaborate with staff colleagues for peer support and review, as requested

Assist with Marketing and Promoting the Center’s Services

  • Participate in the development of the Center’s referral network, as appropriate
  • Participate in the Center’s community relations, social media, and fundraising efforts, as you are willing and able to do so

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's or doctor's degree in pastoral counseling, psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or equivalent
  • Clinical training and experience, validated by Hawaii State licensure, and advanced standing with the group(s) corresponding to their field(s), including the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC), American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), Academy of Clinical Social Workers (ACSW), American Psychological Association (APA) or a medical discipline
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, therapeutic, and compassionate relationships with clients and their families, assess clients’ therapeutic needs, and create, conduct, and assess effective treatment plans
  • Ability to integrate spiritual beliefs and practices with the therapeutic process
  • Ability to work independently and as a positive member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain appropriate personal and professional relationships and boundaries both within and outside the Center

Pay: $57.00 - $60.00 per hour
