The Automation Technology Engineer is largely responsible for carrying out operations that increase the safety, quality, productivity, cost-cutting, and yield of the process.

This comprises long-term planning and short-term project management for the design and development of new process technology and processes, as well as (24/7) support for the OT Network and anything linked to the Rockwell Automation process control system.

It is necessary to have a thorough understanding of Ladder Logic, structured text, PID control loops, FT Batch and recipe management, AC/DC and Servo Drive support, and HMI software.

Other engineering responsibilities include active participation in the development and documentation of operating discipline, such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams, electrical diagrams, and project and equipment files; process training updates for new projects; capital or maintenance project management; and support and improvement of the Rockwell Process control system and HMI templates. This individual ensures that all actions are carried out in accordance with the company’s safety policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Examines the practicality of cutting-edge procedures and equipment in order to increase overall safety, efficiency, and product quality.

Helps troubleshoot electrical and control components, as well as motors and VFDs.

Supports Kaizen initiatives by developing and assisting with department processes.

Aids in the design of control systems, hardware acquisition, installation, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of equipment or equipment design faults.


Make the necessary modifications while adhering to the change management principles (MOC).


Individual project budget expenditures are managed, and good project and contractor management is demonstrated.

Oversee the creation of process control, server, and network software/hardware, as well as their ongoing maintenance.

Maintaining, updating, and improving process data requirements for ERP and business intelligence (BI) systems.

As needed, maintains process control simulation and testing documentation.

Writes detailed technical reports and develops and performs trials and experiments.

To management, presents technical data and recommendations.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

An authorized four-year institution or university with a bachelor’s degree in electrical, chemical, computer engineering, automation technology, or a similar technical area. It is preferred that you have at least three years of related experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Reports, corporate letters, and procedure manuals can all be written. Ability to effectively deliver information to groups of managers, clients, consumers, and the general public, as well as answer to queries.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Engineering math skills required, including previous coursework in calculus and differential equations. Proficiency in probability and statistics preferred, including familiarity with SQC/SPC.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Excellent personal computer skills and common PC software including MS Office. Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and process documentation. Familiarity with Rockwell Automation RSLogix, FTView, Viewpoint, Historian, Transaction Manager, database applications (SQL), AutoCAD or other engineering/process modeling software, Ethernet IP and Cisco networking preferred.
