The Academic Assessment Designer is responsible for leading student
learning assessment programs for faculty teaching courses within
the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts & Interdisciplinary
Studies at Emerson College. The position takes primary
responsibility for working with Marlboro Institute faculty and
those teaching applicable courses to create assessments of student
learning in the Foundations, Perspectives, and Interdisciplinary
Studies programs. This role also entails creating and delivering
one-on-one support to all faculty members seeking to further the
assessment of student learning in their courses. The Designer

Academic Assessment to be shared with the Emerson Community and
collaborates with the Senior Associate Director, Academic
Assessment, to set and implement the Office's strategic
goals.

The Office of Academic Assessment serves the Emerson College
community through three strategic tracks: (1) one-on-one support
for individual faculty as they develop assessment methods and
instruments to measure student learning in their courses; (2)
programmatic assessment at the department and school level through
the work of the Learning, Equity, and Assessment Program (LEAP);
and, (3) faculty development workshops and related programming. Our
office focuses on the development of equity-minded assessment of
student learning that contributes to the Iwasaki Library's IDEAS:
our work is inclusive, diverse, equitable, accessible, and
sustainable. Finally, members of the Office of Academic Assessment

efforts.

& Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College; the Institute

Foundations and Perspectives courses, as well as an
Interdisciplinary Studies major and minor. Work entails setting
strategic priorities and assessment calendars in consultation with
Marlboro Institute leadership and the Senior Associate Director,
Academic Assessment, as well as working with faculty to design
assessments and create plans for closing the loop on findings.

  • Provide one-on-one support to faculty members seeking to
further the assessment of student learning in their courses. This
includes designing asynchronous resources; conducting one-one-one
and small-group consultations with faculty and departments; and
assisting faculty in developing, implementing, and analyzing the
results of student assessments. Compile monthly statistics on these
    activities.

  • Contribute to the Office's focus on developing equity-minded
assessment practices across the College. Research and incorporate
best-practices in conversation with the Senior Associate Director,
    Academic Assessment.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Office's online
assessment of student learning Canvas course for faculty.

  • Enhance the availability of online materials by contributing to
    the development of the Office of Academic Assessment's website;
maintain online resources and public reports on assessment
    activities and results.

  • Work with the Senior Associate Director, Academic Assessment;
ITG; Iwasaki Library staff; the Director of Faculty Development
& Diversity; and others to design and deliver faculty
programming that incorporates equity-minded assessment and IDEAS
    tenets throughout the College.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to collaboration and equity in the
design, delivery, and analysis of assessment materials.

  • Contribute, as appropriate, to data gathering, analysis, and
reporting in support of the college's reaccreditation
    materials.

  • Work with the Senior Associate Director of Academic Assessment
