The General Manager is responsible for running day-to-day operations and guiding general business strategy. Their duties include overseeing hiring, training, and scheduling staff, tracking cash flow, guiding marketing efforts, and creating efficient and compliant retail operations. The General Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations and will work closely with the DOO to ensure performance goals for the store are met and the store is in good operational order at all times. The General Manager must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as an understanding of business analytics tools, such as spreadsheets and Microsoft Power BI. Compensation: $55k - $70k dependent on qualifications and experience. Responsibilities The General Manager is responsible for: Oversight of day-to-day operations Operational compliance with COMAR regulations and state inspections Design marketing strategies and set goals for growth Maintain budgets and optimize expenses Develop policies and processes Ensure employees work productively and develop professionally Oversee recruitment and training of new employees Evaluate and improve operations and financial performance of the store Direct the employee assessment process Prepare regular reports for upper management Provide solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business, regulatory compliance deficiencies, etc.) Facility maintenance and repair, as needed Physical Requirements The General manager must be capable of the handling the physical demands of managing high-volume retail operations. Working Environment This is a collaborative environment with lots of autonomy, where creativity and innovation are highly valued, best suited for someone with an entrepreneurial heart. We are a small, locally-owned company with a second location in Baltimore, and as a small company we are able to develop, plan and execute strategies very quickly and without the frustrating bureaucracy common in larger organizations. Coordination between the two location's management teams helps drive the goal setting, compliance checks, and company strategy. At the end of the day, we like to work hard but have fun, and we like to do it with like-minded, positive, and ambitious teammates. Experience Qualified candidates should possess 3+ years of management experience with at least 1+ years of cannabis-industry management experience, and possess appropriate knowledge of COMAR regulations, Metrc seed-to-sale tracking, and cannabis-specific software systems to effectively manage the store. Education College degree preferred, but not required, for a candidate with suitable experience and cannabis industry expertise.
