Scope of Position:

  • Supports the plant HR manager to ensure that the Concord plant has the right talent to execute the plant’s strategy and achieve desired business results.
  • Ensures that the plant establishes and maintains a positive work environment and operates as “One Corning” in support of Corning values.
  • Assists in achieving or beating budgetary objectives in support of top quartile performance objectives while maintaining appropriate level of HR service delivery.
  • Involved in planning, implementation, administration of most or all of the following human resource functions: employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, equal employment opportunity, organizational development, affirmative action, and health and safety services programs
  • Ensures plant compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines.


Day to Day Responsibilities: The successful candidate will partner with the Concord HR Team and Plant Leadership to align HR objectives and initiatives to the business strategy including:

  • Support the hiring process for all hourly and temporary employees.
  • Takes ownership for specific HR initiatives that support the effective operations of the organization by developing and or delivering HR programs (e.g. attendance tracking, training, employee communications for HR programs).
  • Partner with the Medical department to manage workers compensation cases, EAP case management, FMLA and Disability as required for procedural and legislative purposes.
  • Identifies employee value proposition issues affecting turnover and works with Plant HR Manager to identify action for improvement (e.g. employee climate survey, positive employee relations initiatives, affinity group facilitation).
  • Establish and maintain a presence on the plant floor to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.


Required Education and Experience:

  • At least 2 years of HR experience (generalist/specialist).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Labor Relations or equivalent.
  • Hands-on self-starter, capable of juggling multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, allowing for communication across entire site.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and policies.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet).
  • Successful track record of performance as a Plant HR Analyst/Specialist, Generalist or Center of Excellence (COE) role.
  • Applied Six Sigma, Lean or Kaizen experience.
  • Successful track record in the deployment of HR business processes/programs.


Desired Skills: HR certifications desired.
