A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BRANCH OPERATIONS MANAGER

As a professional in operations management, you play an essential role in directing and coaching your branch associates to drive business results within your specific branch location.

You work hard to increase profits while maintaining high standards of customer service that meet or exceed both branch and company operations goals.

Working alongside the branch sales team, you help develop customer account plans that support market opportunities and corporate objectives.

You also strive to attain branch operations budgets, order fulfillment, and analytics targets.

Using your exceptional leadership skills, you act as a mentor to help your team develop and reach their individual professional growth goals by providing them with the tools they need to succeed.

To ensure your team continues to grow and evolve, you take responsibility for talent recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention.

You make sure that your personnel always has access to the tools they need to satisfactorily complete their jobs, which includes approved plans and detailed budgets.

Safety is of the utmost importance to you, and you ensure that your employees are taking reasonable precautions to perform their work in a safe manner.

In addition, you actively keep track of customer satisfaction through informal telephone conversations, lunch meetings, industry events, and formal surveys.

Weekly, monthly, and quarterly, you monitor and report any updates to show that your location is achieving its goals and maintaining excellence.

You also prepare annual and monthly budgets and ensure that each person on your team understands how they fit into those plans.

• Bachelor's degree


• 3+ years of experience in business, sales, operations, or a related industry


• Knowledge about various types of software, including enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM)


• Knowledge about computer applications, including accounting software, word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentations, and the internet


• Ability to travel about 20% of the time


• Strong leadership skills


• Basic math skills
