  • Renewal of appointment dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, availability of funds and meeting the eligibility requirements of the assistantship (for details , go to the UHM Graduate Division website Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder minimal supervision, provide instructional design support to faculty and staff, including (but not limited to) individualized support sessions, webinars, workshops, and professional development programs.
  • Collaborate with instructional designers on projects that support quality online teaching and learning, including but not limited to development of online courses and multimedia resources, quality course design review and consultation of online courses in alignment to online quality standards, development of support materials for faculty, and application of educational technology theories and frameworks aligned to quality online learning standards.
  • Collaborate and consult with faculty to improve their quality of online teaching and learning.
  • Assist with research and selection of educational technologies, OER, and other zero cost to students online learning tools.
  • Collaborate with other UH personnel as needed for instructional design related tasks and projects.
  • Keep abreast of advances in educational technology and assess the feasibility of recommending to faculty and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum QualificationsMust be a classified graduate student in instructional design, educational technology, or related fields.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Maintain 6 credits per semester with the exception of those who have reached 800 (dissertation) or 700F (thesis).
  • Basic experience in instructional design.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Desirable QualificationsExperience working with faculty in higher education and/or developing online courses and programs.
  • Teaching or training experience in education or related fields.
  • Online teaching or training experience.
  • Experience with and designing courses in a LMS.Experience with graphic/web design.
