Activity Director
The Citadel of Skokie is seeking an Activity Director to join our team. The Activity Director plans, implements and evaluates the recreational, physical, emotional and psychosocial programs in accordance with each resident's assessment and care plan. The Activity Director also coordinates activities such as group events and recreational activities.
Activity Director Essential Job Functions:
- Develops and implements an activities program designed to meet the social, psychosocial and therapeutic needs of the residents.
- Prepares a monthly calendar of activities to be posted in a prominent location visible to resident and visitors.
- Plans, assigns and directs the development of recreational, education, cultural and arts and crafts programs geared to the multi-faceted health problems of the elderly.
- Coordinates the activities program with other services of the facility.
- Oversees the transportation of residents to social activities programs inside and outside of the facility.
- Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of departmental operating procedures and recommends changes as required.
- Oversees the preventive maintenance of departmental equipment, authorizes repairs, and maintains inventory of supplies.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the department’s operating procedures and modifies procedures accordingly.
- Assesses new residents and charters quarterly progress notes.
- Supervises and directs the activities department employees.
- Hires, trains, delegates, and evaluates activities department employees.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Satisfactory completion of a training course for activities directors approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health (DPH)
- 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program approved by DPH within the last 4 years
- Experience in a resident activities program in a health care setting preferred
