Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's internship program offers college students and recent college graduates a unique opportunity to learn about the functions of the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as the Congresswoman's work as the representative of the City of San Francisco (12th Congressional District, California) and her role as Speaker of the House.

An internship with Congresswoman Pelosi presents a variety of opportunities to participate in the daily operations of a Congressional office, either in Washington D.C. or in San Francisco. Preference will be given to residents of San Francisco.

**Responsibilities: General intern responsibilities include:

Answering telephones/recording voicemails;
Data entry and correspondence work;
Responding to constituent requests;
Attending Congressional hearings and briefings;
Assisting with legislative research;
Helping with the Speaker’s events;
Running errands and other miscellaneous tasks, as required;
**Required Skills: In the busy atmosphere of a Congressional office, it is important that interns conduct themselves in a mature, professional manner; are well-organized and able to take initiative, follow instructions, perform well under pressure; and work well as part of a team. Skills required include:

Effective and professional phone manner;
Computer experience;
Good typing ability;
Punctuality;
Attention to detail;
Ability to follow instructions; and
Ability to complete tasks efficiently and thoroughly.
**School credit: Congresswoman Pelosi supports students requesting credit for their internship through their school or university. Please keep in mind that the summer internships are the most popular time to intern and there is a limit to the number of interns that may work in the office at any given time.

Sessions: The deadlines to submit applications for each internship sessions are as follows: Fall: July 12th, Spring: November 8th, Summer: March 10th.

As you know, the Congress is currently operating with restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, all internships are subject to change. Prospective interns must be 18 years or older to apply.
