HIRING SALARY: Negotiable based on education and experience


HOURS: 8:00 A.M. 5:00 P.M., Monday Friday, some evenings may be required

MAJOR FUNCTION: The Director of Special Projects and Innovation is housed in Workforce Development and reports directly to the Vice President. The Director will perform professional work coordinating external funding initiatives, overseeing various grant project managers, and other program coordination for grant programs within the Division of Workforce Development.


Primary Duties Will Include, But Are Not Limited To


  • Provides oversight including budgeting, managing of resources, and coordinates activities of the following programs: CTE Outreach; Inmate Services, Career Education & Articulation, TCC Spark and other grants. Provides direction with planning, developing, marketing, organizing, and implementing instructional DOE, DOS and Workforce programs and courses that are consistent with career opportunities.
  • Collaborates with directors and coordinators to determine program service needs and serve as liaison between the programs and college and the community. Analyzes and evaluates past participation and the success of existing programs to determine future goals and revisions. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of grants, program marketing plans and strategies.
  • Collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Programs to develop accountability and budget reports. Ensures compliance with grant deliverables. Serves as the liaison with Sponsored Programs and specific grant programs. Monitors external funding initiatives.
  • Works with sponsored programs to coordinate services. Works closely with the Vice President of Workforce Development to oversee and monitor projects as needed. Develops an effective reporting model to include dashboard reports and other informational tools for key stakeholders. Provides recommendations for future projects and grants to be pursued and other duties as required.


MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university and at least four (4) years of experience in coordinating training programs or other similar related employment activities. Experience working directly with program management is highly desired. Supervisory experience is also preferred.

Program evaluation techniques and research methodologies. Economic and labor market information and the intersection with education. Skilled in outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong project management, leadership and organization skills. Keen aptitude for accurate, highly detailed and analytical skills. Ability to analyze and interpret data. Understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Formulate policies and procedures. Prioritize multiple tasks from concept to completion while managing time appropriately to meet numerous deadlines. Effectively plan, organize and direct program activities. Work independently and on a team. Work with the CTE Director to execute Perkins V initiatives. Stay current with K-12 and higher education trends/developments/issues. Build partnerships and deliver collaborative programming.
