Position Summary:
Rutgers The State University is seeking a Summer Intern for the Department of Medicine at the New Jersey Medical School.
The Summer Intern (Student Assistant) will assist Principal Investigator with data management on grant funded project on predicting adverse events in the treatment of breast cancer.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
The Summer Intern (Student Assistant) will assist Principal Investigator with data management on grant funded project on predicting adverse events in the treatment of breast cancer.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Take and pass the online CITI training course for human subject's protection.
- Work with the Principal Investigators to identify specific entry criteria in the SEER Medicare database of patients with breast cancer.
- Prepare charts of patient in specific categories of patient, disease, and treatment characteristics, as instructed by the PIs.
- Generate tables of adverse events from treatment of breast cancer patients.
- Work closely with investigators to generate relationships within the data and predictive factors associated with adverse events.
- Conduct library literature searches to identify manuscripts relevant to the project and the investigations.
- Meet regularly with the investigators by WebEx to discuss data generation, troubleshooting of approaches and data analysis.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Current undergraduate or post-graduate college student, study in public health or a related field.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT :
- Office/Clinical/Laboratory environment. Moderate noise.
