The Middle School Counselor is responsible for providing a school counseling program that is preventative in design, developmental in implementation, and supports STCS Middle School students in the areas of academic achievement, personal and social development, and career education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Middle School Counselor is responsible for developing, implementing and managing a comprehensive school counseling program to serve the academic, social and career development needs of Middle School (grades 6-8) students at STCS..
The Counselor performs the following:
Development and Management: Uses data to develop and inform the school counseling program and evaluates the program’s impact on the school’s instructional goals.
Preventative and Responsive Services: Designs, implements and assesses the counseling curriculum. Co-teaches the Friendzy Social-Emotional Learning program with the Middle School Religion teacher.
Individual Student Planning: Works with the K-5 Counselor and 5th grade teachers to prepare students for the transition into Middle School. Prepares students for the transition to High School, with the collaboration of the middle school teachers.
Accountability: Uses all available data, including academic grades, discipline referrals and attendance data, to identify students in need and to deliver services.
