Description
The Staff Utilization Management Pharmacist is a clinical pharmacist who completes medical necessity and comprehensive medication reviews for prescriptions requiring pre-authorization. The Staff Utilization Management Pharmacist work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Responsibilities
This is a contract (temporary) opportunity where you would work up to 40 hours per week. Schedule :
+ Able to work 8 hour shifts Monday thru Friday from 9:30am to 11:00pm EST or 10 hour shifts Tuesday thru Friday from9:30am to 11:00pm EST.
+ Some weekend coverage may be required
+ Mandatory overtime during peak season
The Staff Utilization Management Pharmacist completes a review that includes a full analysis of the medication care plan, investigation of overall utilization, and identification of unusual usage patterns. Intervenes and advises patients and providers to promote cost effective utilization and quality patient outcomes, as needed. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree from an accredited college
+ Must have an active license with the Board of Pharmacy in the appropriate state
+ Ability to participate in Federal prescription programs
+ Ability to solve problems and encourage others in collaborative problem solving
+ Work ethic that is focused, accurate, and highly productive
+ Proficient with computers, utilizing various operating systems
+ Ability to work independently and within a team setting to achieve goals and meet deadlines
+ Excellent verbal and written presentation skills with ability to communicate effectively
+ Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
+ 3 or more years experience in a high volume community or mail order pharmacy practice environment
+ Managed care experience - specifically completing Utilization Management reviews
+ Excellent communication skills
+ Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
+ *Recent pharmacy school graduates encouraged to apply*
Additional Information
This role is Variable Staffing Pool( VSP), Variable Staffing Pool Humana associates work flexible hours to meet business needs, with no guaranteed minimum or maximum number of hours in any week. This role is also eligible for limited benefits.

Work-At-Home Requirements
+ WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
+ A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
+ Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
+ A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.
