Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to support underground utility construction projects on our Hollywood job. This role involves safely operating excavators to install, repair, and maintain water, sewer, and storm drain systems while working closely with utility crews and site supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
• Operate excavators (and related equipment) for underground utility installation, including water, sewer, and storm drainage systems
• Perform precise trenching, grading, backfilling, and pipe placement around existing utilities
• Read and interpret utility plans, grade stakes, and trench layouts
• Safely work around live utilities and maintain proper clearances
• Comply with OSHA trench safety standards, including shoring, sloping, and shielding
• Coordinate with laborers, foremen, and other operators to ensure efficient workflow
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety issues
• Call and respect Sunshine 811 utility locates before excavation
• Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times

Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience operating excavators on underground utility projects
• Strong knowledge of water, sewer, and storm utility installation
• Understanding of trench safety and underground construction best practices
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• NCCER Heavy Equipment Operator certification
• CDL License a plus
• GPS or laser grade system experience

Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit for long periods while operating equipment
• Ability to climb in and out of heavy equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
