Role Description
The Margaret B. Shipley Child Health Clinic is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant to join our team in an on-site, full-time capacity in Canton, OH. The LPN/Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for visits, taking vital signs, documenting medical histories, administering vaccines, conducting basic tests and procedures, and providing general assistance to healthcare providers. Additionally, this role includes supporting patient education, maintaining medical equipment and supplies, along with ensuring accurate and confidential record-keeping in compliance with healthcare regulations. This individual will play a key role in promoting a positive and supportive environment aligned with the clinic’s commitment to family-centered care.
Qualifications
• Proficiency in taking vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, and performing basic medical procedures
• Knowledge of and experience with vaccine administration and developmental screenings
• Strong communication and patient education skills to interact effectively with children, families, and the healthcare team
• Ability to manage medical documentation accurately and maintain confidentiality
• Adaptability to support various healthcare tasks in a dynamic pediatric care setting
• Current LPN license or certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA)
• CPR certification is required
• Experience or interest in working with pediatric or underserved populations is a plus
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems are preferred
• Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a patient-centered approach
