Beach Bagels Crew Job Description
Beach Bagels Crew members may at times work in fast-paced environment where they take care of the end-to-end ordering process, from greeting guests and taking their orders to processing payment and preparing the requested food. For faster turnaround times, it’s common for crew members to work together as a team for each customer transaction and divide tasks among themselves. Task rotation happens regularly, so crew members may experience several workstations - cashier, barista, cold station (a.k.a. cream cheese), expo, and grill. Crew members receive raises as they acquire the necessary skills to competently handle the various workstations. Most crew members work part time. More experienced and skilled crew members will generally work full-time.
Typical Crew Member, Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Cashier/Barista The crew member is responsible for taking guests orders according to Beach Bagels guidelines. Where available, the cashier does double-duty as Barista. Following Beach Bagels recipes, the cashier may be required to make espresso drinks and smoothies.
Cold Station/Cream Cheese Station The crew member working the cold station is primarily responsible for making cold sandwich
Expo During peak periods, Expo assists the Grill in preparing the hot food orders. Expo’s primary function is to “set-up” the order, preparing all ingredients that do not need to be cooked on the grill. Additionally, the Expo position gathers together any guest’s orders that may be on the cold side and hands the entire food order over to the guest.
Grill During peak periods, the Grill, together with Expo, is responsible for all hot orders. During peak period the grill cooks the eggs and veggies and heats the meats and hash browns while Expo does the set up work. During slower periods, grill has the necessary skills to simultaneously handle both cold and hot orders.
Shift Leader A stepping stone into management, the team leader leads by example. They are required to have the Manager ServSafe and competence at all the other positions. They may fill in as the Manager on Duty from a health department perspective and leads the team in their daily duties
