Qualifications
• BLS Certification required through American Heart Association
• ACLS Certification within six months of hire or transfer
• Colorado State RN Licensure
• Previous Administrative Registered Nurse experience preferred.
• Critical Care or ED experience preferred.
• 3 years of professional in-patient nursing experience preferred.
Responsibilities
• Meets Registered Nurse job description requirements.
• Coordinates patient flow, contributing to achievement of initiatives and metrics for improvement, and escalating issues and barriers for problem solving.
a. Rounds, interacting with unit leads to understand barriers to flow and help resolve.
b. Runs bed boards and initiates Max Teams as indicated.
• Works with CTLs and unit charge nurses for timely patient placement and discharge developing creating solutions when possible.
• Helps develop trust and partnerships between units by consistent and ongoing communication
• Provides mentoring and coaching to unit charge nurses in crucial conversations. Intervenes as appropriate.
• Act as a resource for all departments regarding problem solving, conflict resolution and policy interpretation to ensure smooth operation of all services on a shift basis.
• Supports units in transport, assessments, coordination of care and others as able.
• Coordinates staffing support
a. Facilitate unit needs related to census and staffing changes, assisting with float staff assignment throughout hospital.
b. Communicates with agencies to provide additional staffing support as needed.
c. Balances resources across the hospital to assure patient safety.
• Responds to emergency situations and initiates appropriate actions. Initiates Incident Command as necessary.
• Promotes process and system changes by communicating change and reason for action with individuals and small groups.
