Job Description

• Initiate intravenous (IV) access and administer pre-operative medications as ordered
• Prepare patients for surgical procedures, including site preparation and coordination with the surgical team
• Provide pre-operative education and instructions to patients and families to reduce anxiety and support optimal outcomes
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including Universal Protocol and time-out procedures
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Monitor patient condition prior to surgery and escalate concerns as appropriate

Requirements
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Current RN license in the state of Texas
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Pre-Op nursing experience required
• Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems or ability to learn
