Job Description

ks closely with clinical, operational, and administrative teams to drive efficient workflows, support data integrity, and ensure compliance with FQHC standards, including UDS, eCQMs, and HRSA requirements. The EMR Specialist acts as a key liaison between end users, IT leadership, and EMR vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

EMR System Administration (Application Layer)
• Lead functional testing, validation, and coordination of system upgrades, patches, and enhancements
• Maintain system documentation, standards, and change management processes
• Collaborate with IT and System Administration teams to ensure proper system configuration and access controls

Clinical Workflow Optimization
• Partner with clinical leadership and Super Users to evaluate and improve workflows, translating operational needs into standardized EMR solutions
• Ensure standardization of templates and workflows across departments and sites
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, usability, and provider satisfaction

Reporting & Regulatory Compliance
• Support UDS, eCQMs, HRSA, and other regulatory reporting requirements
• Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data validation processes
• Ensure accurate data capture to support compliance, quality initiatives, and value-based care programs
• Assist with audits, quality reviews, and performance tracking

Training & End-User Support
• Provide onboarding and ongoing EMR training for clinical and administrative staff
• Serve as an escalation point for advanced EMR-related issues
• Partner with departmental Super Users to drive adoption and continuous improvement
• Develop training materials, workflows, and standard operating procedures

Vendor & Project Coordination
• Serve as the primary liaison with EMR vendors for application-related issues, workflow optimization, and system functionality
• Collaborate with IT and System Administration teams on implementations, upgrades, and integrations, providing application and workflow expertise
• Coordinate testing, validation, and deployment of new features and enhancements

Data Quality & Performance Improvement
• Monitor data integrity and troubleshoot discrepancies
• Support population health initiatives, registries, and care gap tracking
• Recommend improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and operational performance

Minimum Requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
• Strong attention to detail
• Adept in verbal and written communication
• Excellent Communication Skills
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• Ability to work as a team player and work independently
• Reliable transportation
• Must be able to travel from facility to facility
• This position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.

Required Education/Experience and/or Licensure/Certification
• BS in Computer Science or related field preferred
• 2–5+ years of experience supporting an EMR/EHR system
• Experience supporting a healthcare EMR platform required
• Experience in an FQHC or community health setting preferred
• Commitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community Clinic
• Valid State Identification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• OSHA Category 3 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues are not a condition of employment.
• The work is majority of the time sedentary in nature.
• The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
