Job Description

hoe, or at least learn the backhoe part, someone who knows the importance of measuring twice and cutting once, a person who can build quickly with quality and safety. Indeed, safety and quality are big around here.

This position is open because we have a lot to build this coming season. We are looking for people who would like to become a long-term member of our cohesive group and take pride in their work. If you'd like to join us, please apply online at the CAREERS tab at mtlines.com. Make sure you check out the rest of our website while you're there.

Our bread & butter work is building/erecting traffic signals and luminaires (a.k.a. big steel streetlights). We also work on permanent highway signs, durable pavement markings, and temporary traffic control.

Our mission is to provide the best service at the best price while maintaining a safe working environment. We have been able to accomplish this mission for over 45 years and need quality people and workers to help keep this going for the decades to come.

Within our crews, we provide training for CDL drivers, crane operators, traffic control workers, and forklift operators, all with nationally recognized certifications. We invest in the latest technology, both in our equipment and technology/software. We are active members of the Montana Contractors Association and the Associated General Contractors of America.

We usually run a pair of crews of 5-7 people during construction season. For the 3 winter months, we take our core employees into the shop for winter training and equipment teardown/maintenance, or as we view it, our chance to rebuild and grow ourselves for next season.

This job requires travel for most of the construction season all over the state of Montana. You will travel and work on highways and roads all over the state, some very busy and some only the locals know. We usually work five 12-hour days and have weekends off. You will meet many opportunities to learn and apply new skills, and with that, opportunities to move up the ladder in training, responsibility, and pay.

Our longest field employee has been here for over 38 years, starting in the very position advertised here, and is now running one of our crews. The average length of service for our current employees is around 15 years. These are the types of relationships we are looking for.

We take care of employees by providing qualified trainers and a dedication to safety and innovation. We take care of their families by providing good wages, comprehensive full-family health insurance, a retirement plan, and paid vacation.

The job pays Davis Bacon Wages, or more, with time + 1/2 after 40hrs. Pay is hourly and varies, but this similar position paid about $67,000 last year. Payday is weekly and direct deposit is available.

If you'd like to join us, please apply online at the CAREERS tab at mtlines.com. Make sure you check out the rest of our website while you're there.

Plan on passing a drug test and a check on your driving record. MTL is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a damn great place to work.
