Responsibilities
• Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to support accurate diagnoses.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including setting up necessary equipment and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
• Support physicians and healthcare providers during procedures by handling supplies, assisting with medication administration, and managing sterile techniques.
• Perform basic diagnostic tasks such as X-ray imaging or specimen collection when trained and authorized.
• Manage medical documentation accurately, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and record keeping.
• Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling follow-ups, and ensuring a welcoming environment across various specialties like dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, or emergency medicine.
Skills
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to accurately assist in diverse clinical scenarios.
• Experience working in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or Level I/II trauma centers with exposure to emergency medicine or inpatient care.
• Proficiency in EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and coding purposes; familiarity with ICD coding is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with medication administration, and supporting X-ray or OR procedures when applicable.
• Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
• Knowledge of hospital experience requirements for Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers is advantageous.
• Competence in handling medical-surgical cases across different specialties like internal medicine or urgent care environments; familiarity with Geriatrics or Medical-surgical units is a plus.
