All Candidates must have the ability to:
• Provide technical support to all levels of staff in response to requests received by the Information Technology Support Line (Help Desk), including but not limited to; city supported applications, hardware, peripherals, email, telecommunications and Internet/Intranet issues.
• Develop documentation for existing applications or procedures; assist in testing and integrating new hardware and software to determine compatibility with current equipment and standards.
• Effectively apply technical knowledge of automated systems, hardware, and software in the assistance and support of users, and document activities.
• Plan software and hardware implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
• Act as intermediary between software and hardware vendors.
• Exercise independent judgment to identify and resolve problems with limited supervision.
• Communicate and interface with users on a non-technical level to troubleshoot and research solutions to their computer problems and to distinguish between hardware and software errors.
• Maintain work effectiveness and meet deadlines with frequent changes in workload and priority of assignments.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, external customers, and vendors.
• Exercise judgment to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Must be able to stand, walk and sit up to 8 hours daily; lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs.; climb, stoop, bend, crouch, reach for and handle materials.
• Work requires being onsite.

Education and Experience:
For IT Specialist (II): Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field is required, plus at least one (1) years of relevant experience. May consider a combination of relevant experience and education in lieu of an Associate’s degree. Must be willing to work rotating on-call schedule and overtime as required on nights and weekends. Must possess a valid class “C” driver’s license with a clear driving record.
