Job Description

 In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Public Authority division.

The IHSS Public Authority is located in San Mateo. Applicants must be 18 years old before June 1, 2025. Applicants must be available to work up to 40 hours a week Monday through Friday; positions vary between 20-40 hours a week.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

The Summer Intern II may provide:
• Assistance with office and administrative support. Assistance with special projects.
• Assistance with researching or data entry.
• Providing customer service to the public and internal customers.

Interns will be expected to work 20-40 hours per week for 8-10 weeks and can start anytime in June or July depending on Department needs.
In order to apply, the following criteria must be met:
• Must be eligible to work in the United States
• Must be between the ages of 18 and 21
• Must reside or attend school in San Mateo County
• Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to employment
• Must attend a Jobs for Youth summer internship orientation session prior to employment
• Must have an appropriate workspace for remote work and a stable internet connection

Ideal candidates will have the following competencies:
• Motivated high school graduate
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Developing research skills and comfort with conducting research online
• Ability to manage time effectively and to meet deadlines
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong email etiquette
