Minimum Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Summary:We are seeking a Biosystems Engineer to join the Polymer and Coatings Research and Production team within the UGA New Materials Institute. We seek a creative and self-starting engineer and will collaborate with other members of the team to develop and implement commercial biomaterial and bioprocessing applications. Must possess a solid understanding of basic engineering principles and detailed comprehension of Biosystems Engineering techniques and concepts. Must have a working knowledge of bioprocessing and fermentation techniques as well as practical bioprocessing experience. This position will involve significant hands-on laboratory and pilot scale work including physical labor associated with maintenance of large-scale processing equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:Knowledge of bioprocess engineering, including bioreactors, microbiology laboratory growth, and evaluation equipment and procedures; Knowledge of production design and extraction/separation of synthesized products; Computer expertise with CAD: Inventor, Multiphysics, and iSee simulation modeling.
