Working under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II interacts with patients and health care providers to perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including preparing intravenous admixtures, processing and filling prescriptions, maintaining the electronic medical record, delivering medications to nursing areas and assisting in maintaining pharmacy stock and ensuring no expired medications are in the clinic by following the inventory control process.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, packages, and labels medication in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Follow all controlled substance procedures
- Filling and documentation of pyxis, emergency/code boxes and code trays
- Monitors stock for expiration dates and removes outdates
- Delivery of patient specific medications to infusion or other areas of the clinic such as Pyxis
- Maintain sterility and cleanliness of IV rooms and pharmacy area
- Place drug orders and help in maintaining adequate drug inventory
- Other pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washing State Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission
Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma; completion of Pharmacy Technician program
- WA State Pharmacy Technician Certification
- 1 year experience
- Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Accurate and aseptic IV admixture preparation
- Able to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations
- Ability to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficiently
- Familiarity with the generic names of drugs along with the basic indication
Preferred:
- Ability to operate a Point of Sale system
- Knowledge of and experience with Electronic Medical Records
SCCA has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, and there are no exceptions for any employee who is patient-facing and/or requires access to SCCA facilities.
