Position Overview


Based in a Kansas City or Houston district office, the Supplier Expeditor supports Kiewit and projects by expediting off-site suppliers at various fabrication shops.


The Supplier Expeditor’s primary responsibility is to perform supplier shop expediting tasks in order to ensure purchased materials and engineered equipment meet project need-by dates and schedules per the Contract.


The Supplier Expeditor position requires up to 85% travel and must have the ability to travel outside of the US without restrictions.

Responsibilities



  • To monitor progress at suppliers' facility and to ensure materials and equipment purchased is delivered on time

  • To take the appropriate action with the supplier in the event of delays

  • Communicate and coordinate closely with the Project to ensure the most cost-effective use of time

  • To act as the project’s representative at the suppliers' shop for expediting purposes

  • To produce accurate records on physical progress at suppliers' shop

  • To monitor the performance of the supplier’s sub-suppliers and advise on the need to assist the supplier to expedite primary sub-supplier or those providing components

COMPUTER SKILLS


Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and be willing to learn Kiewit processes and systems. It is a benefit to have experience in DevonWay and / or InEight systems.


EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE


A four-year engineering, science or technical college or university degree is preferred or an Associate degree in engineering technology or science.


Supplier Expediting experience is required. If the candidate has more than 10 years of experience performing supplier expediting work, then a degree is NOT required.


Preferred candidate will have a broad construction working knowledge, experience shop expediting plant equipment (static and rotating) and construction materials (pipe, fabricated pipe, structural steel, electrical equipment and supplies, pumps) etc.
