Wellness Shelter As-Needed Staff

Preble Street is hiring As-Needed Staff at Elena’s Way.

Elena’s Way is the newest Wellness Shelter at Preble Street. This location will provide shelter and intensive services to 40 individuals experiencing homelessness and complex physical and mental health needs, in a 24-hour trauma-informed environment grounded in social work and medical best practices.

Responsibilities include providing coverage, client outreach, maintaining client safety, monitoring security of the building, providing crisis intervention and support, and supporting program needs and activities. As-Needed positions are ideal for those who are flexible, enjoy engaging with people, and prefer fast-paced work.

Shifts vary in length; and will include evening, awake overnight or weekend hours.
Position requirements include a positive regard for clients accessing services for homelessness and poverty; the ability to establish boundaries and set limits with a diverse population; strong communication skills; and the ability to work as part of a team.

Compensation*
As-Needed positions have an hourly wage of $18.00 and work a maximum of 28 hours per week.

Employees working in direct service roles in coverage programs are paid an additional $1.00 per hour for all hours actually worked in such programs between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm. Between the hours of 10:00pm and 7:00am (overnight) a $2.00 per hour differential is paid.
