The NA (North America) Controlling team is a dynamic, diverse, and driven group committed to advancing our geography and contributing to NIKE’s exciting future. You'll report to the Director of Revenue Accounting within NA Controlling and collaborate closely with partners across Global and NA Controlling, Financial Planning, O2C (Order-to-Cash) and Technology teams. You’ll team up with cross-functional business partners to drive process excellence and enable new marketplace strategies. You will drive strong and dynamic partnerships with teammates across the business and finance to ensure controlling viewpoints are represented. You will also work with external auditors to meet interim and year-end audit requirements.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our WHQ-based NA Revenue Controlling team. You will play a key role in the monthly and quarterly close processes for Nike’s NA Geography, with a focus on Direct Revenue. We’re seeking a proactive, highly organized individual who excels at building collaborative relationships with cross-functional business partners. You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, bringing strong problem-solving skills, a mindset rooted in continuous improvement and confidence navigating a complex landscape. We’re looking for a teammate who has a strong understanding of accounting and US GAAP, critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent strongly preferred
• Minimum 3 years of work experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, technical accounting or operational excellence, within a large, complex, multinational corporation and/or Public Accounting firm
• Understanding and experience with US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
• Proficiency with SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office applications is a plus
• Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and layers, preferably within a large complex organization
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and managing multiple, competing priorities and requests, while maintaining high standards for quality and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate status, issues, and risks with senior leadership
• Ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
What You Will Work On
Your work will directly contribute to informed business decisions, process excellence, robust financial controls and the accuracy of financial statements related to NA Revenue and Receivables. While mastering and executing the fundamentals will be critical, your ability to operate in a dynamic environment, work effectively and build trust with a variety of internal stakeholders will also be crucial. In addition, this role plays a critical part in enabling new marketplace strategies across NA, as well as driving operational excellence with how we support and enable the business. Your responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring timely and accurate month-end close processes
• Driving continuous improvements in the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s accounting and financial reporting processes
• Liaising with our Managed Service Provider to create flawless processing of accounting transactions and providing vital training
• Performing analytics over NA Revenue general ledger accounts and related transactions, assessing for accuracy and compliance with US GAAP, and compiling necessary data to help inform management’s decisions
• Supporting key Controlling initiatives, including new system implementations, projects, process improvements, and standardization
• Completing SOX key controls and financial statement reporting requirements associated with North America Direct Revenue
