Our entire team works remotely. However, we would like to bring you into our office in Round Rock, Texas for onboarding and go through an abbreviated version of the training that we have for users of our application. The onboarding process should last about a week. Also, we would like to get together three or four times a year for a couple of days for team building.
McCreary, Veselka, Bragg & Allen is an established law firm representing more than 1,000 local government entities throughout Texas in matters related to ad valorem taxation, property appraisal, and debt collection. MVBA has pioneered ad valorem tax collections since 1961 and continues to lead the way in local government representation.
The average employee at MVBA has worked here more than 10 years. We have a great work life balance. The development team believes in a sustainable pace and has the autonomy to set the strategic direction for technology at the company.
Business process efficiency drives profitability at MVBA and technology drives that efficiency. Internal software applications are a vital part of our strategy. We are looking for an experienced front-end developer or a full-stack developer with significant front-end experience to join a small development team that is responsible for developing and maintaining established web-based line of business applications.
As part of our hiring process, qualified candidates will be asked to implement a small non-business-related project to demonstrate your skill set. If you have the right level of experience, it should not take more than an hour. We value the ability to write quality code over the ability to solve any of the traditional interview puzzles.
Our Development Philosophy
- Test-oriented, agile (lowercase a) development processes designed to minimize overhead for developers.
- Continuous integration and delivery using DevOps to deploy often to production. We take pride in the more than 5,100 unit and integration tests as well as the more than 1,300 Selenium based automated UI tests in our main application.
- Liberal use of open-source projects with an ethic to open-source non-strategic parts of our application.
- Small remote-first team managed by a technical manager. We have autonomy to choose the right technology to address our business requirements.
- A small team affords you the opportunity to branch out and work in other areas of the code.
Our Technology Stack
- A mixture of Angular and React in the process of migrating to React for the website. You will have the opportunity to set direction in this area.
- .NET/C# back end serving up JSON endpoints.
- RavenDB and SQL Server with NHibernate.
- Integration with eFileTexas, the electronic court filing system, using WCF/SOAP endpoints.
Knowledge & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field.
- Minimum of 5 years of software development experience.
- A deep understanding of JavaScript and React.
- Experience with testing frameworks, tools, and methodologies.
- Familiarity with client-side build processes and tools – Grunt, Gulp, etc.
- Comfortable with Git/version control workflows.
Nice to have
- Experience as a full-stack developer.
- Familiarity with C#/.NET MVC, Web Service/API.
- Familiarity with Ruby and Rake.
- Experience creating or contributing to open-source projects.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
