Job Summary
In this role, the Data Architect will be a member of the Data Governance & Strategy team and will be responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering data modeling solutions that support the Product, Customer and Vendor data domains.

 

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
• Define, design, and implement data governance platform strategies for operational, privacy, security, and other related control areas.
• Assist in the definition, documentation, and development of mapping rules for movement of data from disparate data sources and into the various components and subject areas of the data governance environment.
• Build data models including robust data definitions, entity-relationship-attribute models, as well as relational and/or dimensional models.
• Design and architect enterprise data governance platform from conceptual to physical implementation and operations.
• Work closely with data engineers to derive logical models from physical implementation of data structures.
• Perform data quality assessments, data cleansing, structuring and validation on master data attributes.
• Develop data-driven solutions to monitor data quality and link to business-driven goals such as increased revenue, operational efficiency, etc.
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques. Drive establishment of high-integrity data sources and processes.
• Support digital transformation efforts and link data sources to useful dashboards, monitoring systems, and KPI tracking.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications


• Experience using data integration applications such as Alteryx, DataStage, Talend or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
• Experience leading significant data architecture transformation at a technical level within an organization. This may include work in Master Data Management (MDM), ETL development with data integration to support data marts, extracts and reporting, Data Governance, lineage, discovery, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in data modelling, information architecture, analytics, schema evolution, data organization layouts.
• Demonstrated proficiency applying data modeling concepts using tools such as Erwin (or equivalent technology).
• Experience in data consumption: BI analytics, product analytics, data science.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, storage optimization, query optimizations and serving Metadata services.
• Previous experience in the water and fire protection distribution/manufacturing industry (preferred).

Typical Training/Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in related field (Ex: Information Systems, Computer Science).
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in IT or related technical professions.
• Proficient in SQL and experience developing reports using tools such as ThoughtSpot, MS Power BI (or equivalent technology).

• Ability to quickly learn new and existing technologies with strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities.
Autonomy
• Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual, complex problems or issues.
Leadership
• May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.

 

Environmental Job Requirements
• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
