Child Nutrition Middle School Manager - Medium Term Substitute
Begins September 29 - December 2, 2022
8 hrs / day
$20.56 / hr + certification
TITLE : CHILD NUTRITION - MIDDLE SCHOOL MANAGER
QUALIFICATIONS :
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience with food services and / or school nutrition programs, preferred.
3. Ability to perform job duties in a professional and pleasant manner.
4. Ability to work successfully under the pressure of daily production and service timelines.
5. Able to lift up to 40 lbs, bend, twist, turn, stand / walk continuously.
REPORTS TO : Director of Child Nutrition Services and / or Principal
JOB GOALS : Provide a positive culture for students, staff and parents by serving healthy food options to reflect our commitment to nourish the mind and body of all learners.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Communicates and interacts positively with students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
- Instructs kitchen personnel in proper lifting techniques, and the safe and efficient use and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
- Maintains a high standard of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria.
- Enforces a strict dress code with employees.
- Prepares food according to a planned menu and tested uniform recipes in proper quantities following dietary guidelines.
- Follows budgetary guidelines to reduce waste and unnecessary inventory.
- Ensures served food is of the best quality both in flavor and appearance.
- Assists Director of Child Nutrition Services in determining daily offerings for ala carte.
- Communicates quality control issues and / or accidents to the Director of Child Nutrition Services.
- Serves food in an efficient and timely manner.
- Periodically works each position in the kitchen, suggesting improvements where needed.
- Cross trains employees in different job duties and positions, when possible.
- Ensures accurate records are kept for all food served, ordered, and inventoried.
- Designs and distributes marketing material.
- Evaluates plate waste and communicates with students regarding food preferences.
- Schedule focus groups with students to obtain program feedback.
- Attends job-related training classes and workshops.
- Obtains and maintains all necessary certifications and licenses, including School Nutrition and MN Department of Health Food Manager.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : As per the contract agreement.
EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
