About the position

The Criminal Intelligence Analyst I-III position at the Texas Department of Public Safety involves performing complex criminal intelligence research and analysis to support law enforcement efforts in Texas. Analysts will maintain situational awareness regarding criminal activities, analyze data, write reports, and identify patterns of criminal behavior. The role offers opportunities for training and mentoring others, with varying levels of responsibility based on the analyst level (I, II, or III).

Responsibilities
• Conduct complex research and strategic crime analysis to identify and evaluate patterns and trends.

• Collect and compile criminal intelligence information and statistics to generate intelligence data for investigations.
,
• Research, analyze, evaluate, and correlate criminal intelligence information to determine source reliability and develop investigative leads.
,
• Process intelligence information using analytical tools to produce intelligence studies and reports.
,
• Organize and maintain sensitive and open source case data for retrieval and further analysis.
,
• Prepare and present detailed graphical presentations and intelligence reports to outside organizations.
,
• Work on a Strike Team in the event of a major threat to the state.
,
• Train, coach, and mentor others as needed.
,
• Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours.

Requirements
• Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is required.

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant field is preferred.
,
• Minimum of four years' experience performing criminal intelligence analysis work in an intelligence/military/government environment.
,
• Knowledge of intelligence gathering methodologies and crime analysis processes is required.
,
• Ability to prepare analytical reports and demonstrate analytical reasoning and attention to detail.
,
• Must possess a valid driver license from state of residence and secure a secret level security clearance within one year.
