  • We are looking for an HR Director to grow with our Human Resources team!
  • This hands-on leader will be responsible for all strategic and tactical aspects of Human Resources including but not limited to employee relations, recruiting, compensation, benefit administration, and management coaching.
  • This is a full-time, remote position based out of Washington or California with travel to retail stores as needed.
  • Responsibilities: Direct, develop and mentor an HR Generalist as part of a small team that operates as a valued business partner within the company.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to the senior leadership team and store management.
  • Collaborate on the creation and execution of the organization's strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Provide coaching, development, and training to enhance management capability and accountability.
  • Function as a trusted advisor to managers in coaching them on successful employee development, problem/conflict resolution and performance management, with a specific focus on District/Store Managers within retail operations.
  • Partner with management team to create and implement programs to develop and engage employees.
  • Develop and implement a company wide training program, with a focus on professional development and product knowledge, to supplement the general online trainings from suppliers.
  • Develop effective employee relations.
  • Provide assistance with sensitive employment matters, and handle issues discreetly, thoughtfully, and responsively by resolving the near-term challenge with an eye towards the long-term organizational implications.
  • Ensure compliance with company values, policies, procedures, and state and federal laws.
  • Elevate the hiring process by partnering with hiring leaders to find quality, diverse applicants and ensure every candidate gets a responsive, highly professional recruiting experience.
  • Foster and develop a robust network of talent, as well as build stellar onboarding programs that rapidly equip new hires and effectively preserve culture.
  • Drive the complete talent acquisition process including setting guidelines for hiring, writing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees.
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Payroll and people managers to ensure all employees are paid accurately and timely.
  • Maintain the integrity of employee payroll data and all related employee information systems.
  • Own employee benefits design and delivery.
  • Develop and implement best practices related to inclusive benefits and compensation programs to ensure we remain competitive as we scale.
  • Ensure soft benefits and cultural events keep everyone engaged and motivated.
  • Participate in the negotiation, enhancement, and administration of company benefits programs including contract renewals and negotiations, and drive employee enrollment, plan administration and required reporting.
  • Provide day-to-day interface with employees on benefits questions and maintain benefit files.
  • Actively oversee a base-pay compensation program by creating salary guidelines that balance market rates with internal equity and projected company growth.
  • Manage annual performance review process including conducting leadership meetings, assisting with difficult messaging and legal issues, and participating in reviews as requested by managers.
  • Partner with management to help establish professional development goals and succession planning for employees.
  • Work with Operations Managers to run and enhance companywide safety programs.
  • Own all HR policies, procedures, and programs across the Company.
  • Requirements : High degree of personal integrity and confidentiality.
  • BS/ BA degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or related discipline.
  • At least 8+ years' experience in an HR Generalist role.
  • Track record of successful HR partnership with an organization and demonstrated business acumen.
  • Preference for experience with Retail and/or a fast-paced multi-site environment.
  • Proficient writing skills with experience using Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated level of maturity and judgment, as well as the ability to establish trust, fairness and credibility with employees, managers, and other partners and to be a trusted advisor to senior leadership in addressing company-wide challenges and initiatives.
  • Ability to confidently express your opinion, based on thoughtful data gathering and analysis.
  • Able to engage in healthy, constructive debate to provide the best service to the business and employees and can manage confidential information appropriately.
  • Comfortable and skilled at leading meetings, trainings, and facilitations and in enabling productive engagement of all participants.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing HR team members.
  • Exceptionally high level of commitment to the success of individuals.
  • Driver with proven decision making, problem solving, judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to define priorities and to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm, professional, positive, problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to travel (10%) throughout the West Coast and to Colorado as needed.
