About the position
The Airport Operations Manager at Tampa International Airport is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of airport operations to ensure a safe, secure, and efficient environment for passengers and staff. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of airport facilities, safety protocols, and security functions, with a strong focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience. The manager will conduct regular inspections of Airside, Landside, and Ground Transportation areas, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while coordinating operational activities with various stakeholders, including airlines, federal agencies, and airport maintenance personnel. In addition to operational oversight, the Airport Operations Manager will resolve issues related to airline passengers, airport guests, and tenants, working closely with internal and external customers to develop effective plans of action in response to security concerns, construction impacts, and operational challenges. The role also involves managing the airport's aircraft parking resources, ensuring efficient use of facilities, and maintaining strong relationships with airport tenants to address their needs and concerns. The manager will assume Incident Command responsibilities during emergencies and security events, providing guidance and support to staff while ensuring adherence to airport regulations. This position requires strong leadership skills, the ability to make quick decisions in high-pressure situations, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety and customer service within the airport operations team. The Airport Operations Manager will also be responsible for the professional development of staff, fostering a collaborative work environment, and delivering performance reviews as necessary.
Responsibilities
• Supervise airport facilities, safety, and security functions to ensure a premier customer experience.

• Conduct inspections of Airside, Landside, and Ground Transportation areas to maintain a safe and secure airport environment.

• Coordinate operational and security activities with various stakeholders, including airport maintenance personnel and airlines.
,
• Resolve operational issues involving airline passengers, airport guests, and tenants.
,
• Work closely with internal and external customers to develop plans of action for security, access control, and construction impacts.
,
• Oversee the inspection of airport facilities, apron areas, gate positions, terminal buildings, and roadways.
,
• Make decisions to maintain safe airport operations and mitigate operational delays.
,
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and county regulations for airport operations.
,
• Assume Incident Command responsibility for airport emergency and security events while on duty.
,
• Provide information to various agencies and governmental officials regarding airport regulations and procedures.
,
• Evaluate and recommend solutions to operational concerns and enforce airport rules and regulations.
,
• Manage the airport's aircraft parking gate and hardstand resources to maximize efficiency.
,
• Maintain effective working relationships with all airport tenants and stakeholders.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Business or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.

• Experience in airport operations at a medium or large-hub airport.
,
• Ability to act independently and decisively in emergencies.
,
• Competent oral and written communication skills.
,
• Knowledge of FAA rules, regulations, directives, and procedures governing airport operations.

• Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain AAAE Certified Member (C.M.) credential within one year of employment.

• Obtain and maintain position appropriate NIMS & emergency management training.
