Position Overview:

Assist with the d evelopment and financial wellbeing by overseeing the daily operations of the Agency’s programs, financial projections, grants, accounting services, preparing growth plans, and directing staff. Administer, direct and coordinate policies, procedures, and outside relationships to ensure sound and stable management of all Agency’s fiscal operations and activities.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, development, direction, and management of the Accounting Staff.
  • Assist with the management of the cash and working assets of the Agency by adhering to sound cash management practices, payment of invoices, and selected bank account transfers and investments.
  • Supervise payment of invoices by check, credit card, or ACH transactions.
  • Prepare timely internal monthly financial statements, business activity reports, or reports required by CFO or regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual CFR filing.
  • Assist with financial requirements of grant applications and subsequent reporting.
  • Follow internal control systems for the safeguarding of the Agency’s assets.
  • Maintain regular communication with the CFO.
  • In conjunction with the CFO, work with the independent auditors to complete the annual audit and 990 filings.
  • Assist with ensuring preparation and filing of all funding and regulatory expenditure reports.
  • Maintain adequate documentation and audit trails of financial transactions.
  • Follow and ensure issued standard practices related to accounting and administrative procedures and collaborate in the coordination of business support systems including purchasing, property management, office methods, required documentation and procedures.
  • Monitor accuracy and consistency of processes and procedures within the Finance Department and make recommendations for changes/improvements.
  • Maintain current knowledge of agency policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Maintains policies and procedures for the department and updates as necessary.
  • Conduct special projects or activities and assume other related duties as needed or assigned by the CFO.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and five (5) years broad fiscal experience
  • Two (2) years supervisory/managerial experience.

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and general business management and administrative principles , the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Working knowledge of computerized general ledger, billing, payroll, and financial information systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision making skills with the ability to analyze information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to deal with individuals at all levels within and outside the agency.
  • Excellent organizational & time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills, including a proactive approach to problem solving and the ability to make quick and independent decisions in response to changing conditions.
  • Proficient with Internet Explorer; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Word; and Windows Operating System.
