General Description

The Career Advisor is responsible for overseeing a case load of job seeking customers to provide program assessment, financial literacy, career pathways coaching and resource referral for barriers to education, training, and employment. The Career Advisor will develop strong relationships with community partners to provide resources for barrier removal to achieve successful customer job training and job placement. Our work environment is fast-paced, high-volume and performance-based. As such, Career Advisors are expected to meet monthly individual and team benchmark goals servicing a caseload of 60-70 customers on average. Monthly Commission available to Career Advisors who meet and exceed monthly benchmark requirements. The ideal candidate shows a never-ending commitment to quality and goals, with a demonstrated ability to drive improved employment outcomes for customers and the business partners we work with. Performance based on customer engagement and retention, data upkeep, customer employment placement, customer employment retention and employment advancement. Qualification Requirements:

  • Excellent multitasking, time management and organizational skills a must.

  • Counsels individuals to help them understand and overcome extreme personal, social, or behavioral problems affecting their educational, vocational, financial and career goals.

  • Assesses information on work history, educational background, experience, and interests to assists customers with the development of Individual Responsibility Place to include personal customer goals, financial goals, career goals, and job readiness needs. Assists customers in identifying in-demand occupations and career ladders for career plan.

  • Assists customers in developing a structured job search strategy that integrates an optimal mix of pre-employment activities for advancement into permanent employment and employment retention.

  • Facilitates orientations for Career Services Department including motivational coaching and initial intake assessments.

  • Monitors customer progress of career and education goals and documents customer progress information in electronic case management database after each customer interaction.

  • Maintain electronic case files for each customer on caseload, updating customer documentation within the file at least once per week.

  • Prepares weekly and monthly reports related to assigned caseload using MS Excel and Salesforce

  • Ensures customer job readiness compliance by maintaining weekly outreach contact with all customers to ensure meaningful engagement in program services and to provide intensive support.

  • Assists with barrier remediation with referrals to educational, training, employment and other supportive resources

  • Monitors/documents weekly and monthly stipend monies to individual customers with utmost accuracy

  • Fosters positive working relationships with all customers and staff

  • Identifies qualified candidates for open job orders through resume review, interview coaching and career assessment.

  • Provide financial coaching and goals tracking to customers using Salesforce software database

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Performs other duties as assigned.




Work and Education Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in career services, business administration, psychology or related field

  • 2 - 5 years prior experience with case management, career coaching and planning or related work.

  • Ability to develop and implement a personalized employment plan including assessment, pre-screening, soft skills training and employment retention.

  • Robust administrative experience with attention to detail, time management, and organized process implementation

  • Demonstrated success managing a large volume of electronic data, hard copy documentation and ability to organize filing systems weekly

  • Demonstrated superior written and oral skills with challenged clientele.

  • Ability to always manage and secure confidential information

  • Ability to organize, document, and distribute company monies with absolute precision

  • Ability to be empathic and firm while setting measurable targets for customers

  • Monitors customer service delivery and response time

  • Maintains dignity and confidentiality of customer information

  • Desire to work with a diverse population of customers with varying needs and high barriers to employment

  • Ability to identify resources and connect them to clients experiencing barriers to career goals

  • Proven record of achieving and exceeding performance benchmarks

  • Proficient at using Microsoft Office 365 and CRM database programs

  • Proficient with Adobe Reader

  • Training in sales techniques a plus

  • Knowledge of Salesforce a plus

COVID-19 Requirements

The DC Government requires that under their COVID-19 Safety Mandate Programs, the COVID-19 Safety Requirement will be expanded to all District employees and all contracted employees. Under this program, all District and contracted employees must provide verification of their full course of COVID-19 vaccination which includes a booster shot, if eligible. As a DC Government contractor, this means that all Grant Associates’ staff in our DC offices as well as all indirect staff whose time is charged to these programs must comply and provide verification of vaccination once hired.
