Summary

Pratt & Whitney AutoAir has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer (P2) supporting second shift operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure products and processes meet engineering & customer requirements by applying configuration verification and internal audits.

  • Review engineering documentation, Quality procedures and test plans.

  • Collect and present Quality metrics on key process indicators.

  • Provide on-site Quality support to both internal and external customers.

  • Establish and maintain the Quality procedures and manuals for AS9100, regulating entities and FAA FAR Part 145 regulations requirements.

  • Serve as focal point for engineering, customer service support, and operations to investigate and resolve any quality issues.

  • Perform product, process, and system audits and verify root cause analysis and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions taken.

  • Review and provide update on technical data changes, etc. as needed.

  • Review product first articles, PFMEA's, etc.

  • Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities.

  • Participate on cross functional team projects to improve the overall organization and to develop a career path and leadership.

  • Willing to get cross trained on any other responsibilities of QA department as the need arises.

  • Monitor quality management system in accordance with AS9100 and other regulatory requirements.

Pratt & Whitney Lansing, Michigan is a FAA regulated facility and as such under the U.S. Departments of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in Manufacturing, Military, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; OR an Associate’s degree and 4 years of relevant industry experience; OR an Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate and 4 years of relevant industry experience; We will also consider candidates with 6 years of relevant industry experience, and a high school diploma

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aftermarket Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry experience and FAR 145

  • FAA Repairman, AMT or A&P Certificate preferred

  • Knowledge of product or process non-conformance investigations (i.e. 8-D, DIVEs)

  • Experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA), Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

  • Knowledge of UPPAP core elements (PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans)

  • Audit experience with AS9100/AS9110 standards or certification

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical engineering drawings

  • Continuous Improvement, LEAN and/or CORE, ACE, Six-Sigma training

  • Organizational and project management skills, PMP certification preferred

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Solumina, SAP, or similar MRP/ERP systems

  • Ability to work across and communicate with all levels of the organization
